Oitenta e uma pessoas estavam a bordo, entre jogadores, jornalistas e tripulantes.
A Polícia do Departamento (Estado) de Antióquia, informou à agência de notícias Reuters que 76 pessoas morreram e cinco sobreviveram.
One plane which was transporting the soccer team of Chapecoence fell in the dawn of this Tuesday in Colombia, to where the team was travelling to dispute the final of South-American Cup against the Nacional Atletico of Medellin.

A Cruz Vermelha colombiana e a imprensa local confirmaram que o goleiro Marcos Danilo Padilha, conhecido como Danilo, não sobreviveu aos ferimentos. Ele havia sido resgatado com vida e seu nome ainda estaria na lista de sobreviventes divulgada pelas autoridades de aviação civil colombiana.
O zagueiro Neto foi encontrado pelos bombeiros colombianos no começo da manhã, em meio aos destroços do avião. Ele teria sofrido traumatismo craniano.

O avião partiu-se em três pedaços. O local da queda, a cerca de 50 quilômetros da cidade de Medellín, no Departamento (Estado) de Antióquia, é montanhoso e de difícil acesso.
